We recently discovered why we’ve been seeing an asterisk next to “trans” so we decided to send out a post that explains it. Check out this picture and visit ItsPronouncedMetrosexual.com.

The word “transvestite” should not be in this. It’s a derogatory and offensive term.
The proper term is “crossdresser”. I’m shocked that it’s not even on there.
Good effort though.

EDIT: Also, I really don’t think the term should not be right next to transsexual. In my opinion, it sends the wrong message to people who know nothing about the trans* community.

My 10 year highschool reunion is coming up, so I put this together, for my classmates who are on facebook and may stumble upon my profile on the facebook group and wonder who I am. It’s a lot easier than explaining!
I graduated in 2002, and it’s now 2012.. but these were the best photos I could find for a comparison.

In Maryland, Male Student Suspended for Wearing a Skirt

Warren Evans, an openly bisexual student at Calvert High School, was suspended for wearing a skirt, [allegedly] violating the school’s dress code.

Evans says the school is discriminating against him and does not believe he violated any dress code.

“I don’t think so. Why not? It didn’t say anywhere in the code of conduct or dress code that says boys can’t dress like girls,” Evans commented.

The school district’s dress code policy states schools can regulate dress or even hair lengths.

Students at the school told News4’s Shomari Stone that female students wear skirts of the same length that Evans wore, but they were not suspended.

School officials will not comment on the suspension. They did say the dress code applies to all students, regardless of gender.

Public schools being used for taxpayer-sponsored gender policing. Just warms your heart, don’t it?

Dress code or moral discomfort of teaching staff?
“Uhhhhhh boys like, don’t dress like that.. so.. he shouldn’t be allowed to dress like that!” Why? because it makes you fucking uncomfortable?

I think he looks fabulous. He pulls off that outfit spectacularly.

A lot has happened since I posted the initial story about James, the transman who was attacked on Wednesday.. so I’m going to give you an update.

Firstly, not long after James pressed charges, his attacker, Mark, turned around and pressed charges on James, for defending himself.. which was a huge outrage. Way to vilify the victim.

Anyway, the good news (GREAT news, actually!) is that, as of yesterday morning, I believe, the charges against James have been dropped, and Mark has been arrested and charged with assault.
I’m not sure how this happened, but the fact is that it did, and this is very good news!

This is for all you transmen (and other non-binary or gender nonconforming men) out there who face discrimination just for being yourselves, for not being the stereotype or “ideal” of how people think a man should be.
